The G.I.F.T. web site contains
hundreds of pages, and there are several elements d that
assist with navigating to the desired page / topic. At the
top of most pages is an "Overview" section which
describes the content of the page, and at the bottom of each
page there is a "Notes" section with any relevant
notes or links to other related pages or web sites.
Three different types of hyperlink
are used within the site, and their background colour (when
the cursor is moved over them) makes them easily recognisable.

browser window.

uses a different background colour to help with understanding
its content. This colour scheme is also used for the main

Main Category Index
The five main categories are always displayed at the top
of each page.
The
site map lists all of the pages within the site in categorical
order. The icons (images) next to each item relate to the
type of content that the page contains. The table at the
top of this page contains a list of each icon and explains
the data that the page contains. Each page contains a graphic
link to the "Site Map".
The
"Search Engine", is accessed by clicking on the
magnifying glass in the top right of each page, and allows
the pages of the site to be searched for keywords. The search
is not case sensitive, so the entering the text "Medical",
will return pages with the keywords "medical" and
"MEDICAL". Once the keyword has been entered, press
the "Search" button to initiate the search, and
the results will be displayed in the lower half of the page,
with the highest ranked pages at the top of the list. Click
on the hyperlink to load the page in the same browser
window.
Note! The
"Search Engine" requires a browser that is capable
of displaying frames.
The
new version of this site can be viewed using a "Frameset"
which displays a list of all the pages in a tree format at
the left hand side, and the content of each selected page
at the right hand side. To activate the frameset, click
on the "Framed" icon in the header. To remove
the frameset, click on the "Remove Frames" link
at the top of the list in the left frame.
